LEGAL ENDORSEMENTS

We, the undersigned organizations and individuals, endorse the recommendations and legal analysis put forth by the memorandum produced by the Los Angeles Tenants Union and Evict Ice, Not Us coalition entitled “Legal Analysis and Recommendations for Emergency Tenant Protections Relating to Ongoing Immigration Enforcement.”

The wave of evictions spurred by months of the Trump administration’s brazen, escalating campaign of indiscriminate capture of our most vulnerable community members is upon us. The County must act with urgency and implement a strong eviction moratorium that provides real relief to Angelenos facing the dual nightmare of deportation and homelessness.

As stated in the memorandum, the County is entirely within its power to implement this moratorium. A refusal to do so would be a political decision, not a legal one.

We urge the County Board of Supervisors and County Counsel’s office to draft and vote on a moratorium that maps the recommendations of the Los Angeles Tenants Union and Evict Ice, Not Us Coalition. Many hundreds of thousands of immigrant families are looking to you for action.

DOES YOUR ORGANIZATION SUPPORT AN EVICTION MORATORIUM?
